August 12, 2009 – The Knoxville City Council has determined that it will not consider the resolution opting out of the state statute authorizing permit holders to carry guns in parks.

This decision was based on a legal opinion that a valid ordinance already exists which prohibits persons from possessing or using firearms in parks.

As a result, City Council concluded that a workshop on the proposed resolution is not necessary at this time.

Consequently, No workshop will be held August 20, 2009 regarding Guns in Parks.
