December 21, 2009 – No need for the excitement to end with the holidays; Knoxville Zoo has plenty of fun planned for the new year. StoryTime and Camp WILD will keep your little ones entertained in wild style, and are sure-fire antidotes to cabin fever.

Winter is the perfect time for storytelling, and StoryTime in the log cabin is always cozy despite the chilly weather. Join Knoxville Zoo’s tale-tellers each Wednesday and Friday at 10:30 a.m. through February in the log cabin for animal-themed stories for children of all ages and the chance to meet an animal visitor up close, too. StoryTime is included as part of general admission to the zoo, which is currently half-off during Penguin Discount Days.

At Knoxville Zoo, camp isn’t just for summer! Camp WILD is a special winter day camp for grades 1 through 5, and a unique way to enjoy the school break. There’s something new every day, from activities and crafts, and animals will make an appearance, too. Camp WILD offers a flexible schedule to make camping easy for everyone; come for one day, come for two, or come for the whole week. Camp WILD will be held from Dec. 28 through Jan. 1 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily. Campers should bring a sack lunch and the zoo will provide a drink. Cost is $45 per day or $135 for the entire week. Zoo members receive a discount on camp fees. Registration and payment are required in advance.

For more information on StoryTime or Camp WILD, or to register, please call the zoo during business hours at (865) 637-5331.

Knoxville Zoo is located off exit 392 from Interstate 40 and is open every day except Christmas Day. The zoo is nationally accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and is committed to the highest standards in animal care and well-being, ethics, conservation, and education. Currently, the zoo is open everyday from 9:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Admission and ticket sales stop one-hour before the zoo closes. Next-day admission is free after 3:00 p.m. For more information, please call 865-637-5331 ext. 300 or visit www.knoxville-zoo.org
