First-annual charity event will benefit Empty Stocking Fund
Women Today’s 16th year will be made even sweeter with the introduction of a wine-themed benefit event.
Women Today will host its first-annual charity event, Women’s Wine Down benefiting the News Sentinel Empty Stocking Fund, on Friday, March 19, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Knoxville Convention Center.
Hosted by Fabio Viviani from Bravo’s “Top Chef,” the VIP evening will feature wine, food, shopping, music, prizes and fun:
- Wine tasting presented by Ashe’s Wine and Spirits and Gnarly Head wines
- Scrumptious hors d’oeuvres provided by Crown and Goose, RouXbarb, RouXbarbeque, Salsarita’s, Brixx Wood Fired Pizza, Avanti Savoia and Cabot Creamery
- Complimentary nail polishes and makeup touch-ups from Belleza Salon and Spa
- Live music performed by the Boling, Brown and Holloway Jazz Trio
- Gourmet coffee from Javerde Coffee locally roasted in Powell, Tenn.
- A silent auction featuring items from Belleza Salon and Spa, Avanti Savoia, Family & Implant Dentistry, Fundamentally Dog, PetSafe Village, Campus Cargo, AAA of East Tennessee, Cabot Creamery and Mountain Mutt Photography
- A chance to win a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle
Tickets are $40, and all proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction will benefit the News Sentinel Empty Stocking Fund (ESF). The mission of ESF is to provide food and toys to disadvantaged East Tennesseans during the holidays. In 2009, ESF provided 3,600 families with 75-pound food baskets and 3,000 children with a new toy and book.
“This is the Empty Stocking Fund’s 99th year, and our goal is to raise $20,000 through Women’s Wine Down to help ESF continue to serve our neighbors in need,” said Deanene Catani, director of marketing for the News Sentinel. “We hope women will enjoy an evening out at Women’s Wine Down with great friends – all for a great cause.”
