Enjoy the Best Fine Art With a Gorgeous Mountain Backdrop: From woodwork to watercolor, there will be a wide array of fine art on display at the 6th Annual Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival on May 15-16. Located at the gateway to Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, the festival is perfect for people of all ages to discover quality artwork, children’s activities, music and food. While admission to the festival is free to visitors, the event serves as a fundraiser for the internationally renowned Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts, the Sevier County Arts Council and the Gatlinburg Boys & Girls Club art program. Visitors who want to mingle with their favorite artists can attend the “Night with the Artist Party” on May 14, held at the Mills Auditorium, located at the W.L. Mills Conference Center, which adjoins the Convention Center. Tickets for the artist party are $50.
Turning the Caber and Highland Wrestling, Gatlinburg presents Scottish Festival & Games: A Scottish parade kicks off the 29th Annual Scottish Festival & Games beginning at 6 p.m. on May 14 in downtown. Then on May 15 & 16 at Mills Park, the Scottish Festival & Games will feature wares and food befitting the theme and professional and amateur athletes competing in many different events including tossing the Scottish haggis, turning the caber, where participants flip over a 19-foot log weighing 100 to 130 pounds and Highland wrestling. More than 30 Scottish Clans will be assisting visitors in finding their heritage. Musical entertainment from Cutthroat Shamrock, Colin Grant-Adams, Albannach and Thistledown Tinkers will take place throughout the weekend. Scottish clothing, food and other items will be available for purchase.
Family Fest in the Smokies: The Gatlinburg Convention Center will host a three-day musical celebration during Family Fest in the Smokies. From May 28-30 featured artists include Collingsworth Family, Down Home Horns, Jeff & Sheri Easter, Buddy Greene, Karen Pack & New River, Voices of Lee, Kevin Williams and many more. A three-day ticket is $120 for adults and $30 for children age 12 and under.
