Carousel Gardens, a beautiful complex featuring local artwork, specialty shops and a gorgeous outdoor courtyard will celebrate its Grand Opening on Friday, June 25. A ribbon cutting, guided tours, demonstrations, live entertainment and a chance to meet local artists are some of the festivities planned for the opening. The Shops at Carousel Gardens is owned by Gatlinburg businessman, Brownlee and Kelley Reagan. A lifelong visionary and ambassador of the place he has always called home. The Reagans listened and they delivered the dream of both, visitors, locals and family of bringing the heart of Gatlinburg home, and what better location than their historical landmark property in downtown Gatlinburg. “We came up with the concept of Carousel Gardens because we wanted to bring back the local traditions that made Gatlinburg the premier destination of the Smoky Mountains years ago…” said Reagan. Reagan opened the new Carousel Gardens in March 2010. A fire had ripped through the Carousel Mall in December 2007, destroying the Jim Gray Gallery, which had been a fixture on the corner since the early 1970’s. The Carousel Mall was also home to unique shops, a restaurant, and the famous Polly Burgen Shop.

Carousel Gardens is now open and features the Originals Gallery, At a Glance Gallery, Lulu’s Cookie Gallery, The Shops at Carousel Gardens encompasses two floors of Fine Arts and Crafts featuring the work of over 45 juried artists, and of course, Sweetpea’s Cafe & Antique Lounge. The complex offers great dining, fine art and fine craft, live music nightly, unique antiques, home décor by local artists including Jim Gray, Robert Tino, and G.Webb.

Sweetpeas’s Café and Antique Lounge, located at Carousel Gardens owned by Nick and MyLy Christopher previously known as Desserts & More located at The Village, has moved and expanded their operations becoming a beautiful focal point and fixture on this premier property at the main intersection red light #3 in Gatlinburg. They offer the same great food prepared daily using the freshest ingredients. The menu includes homemade breads, gourmet sandwiches, delicious quiche, unique salads and AMAZING deserts. Guests will enjoy the atmosphere of Sweetpeas Café & Antique Lounge because of the electric décor and daily using the beautiful views of downtown Gatlinburg, but they will come back for the great food. The café exemplifies a French Country Mountain Chic setting featuring vintage lines, handcrafted custom designed iron and crystal chandeliers, antique furnishings, beautiful local art work… all done with Smoky Mountain flair and a view unlike no other.

“Now look at Carousel Gardens! The energy is flowing again and we have a new and shining example of why so many people love to visit Gatlinburg. Of course I was pleased to see my own work displayed in such a beautiful venue, but more than that, it is fantastic to walk around and be surrounded by work from so many artists and craftspeople all under one roof.,” said artist Jim Gray. Carousel Gardens and Sweetpea’s Café are located at 458 Parkway at Traffic Light #3 in the heart of downtown Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
