Premier Surgical Associates will serve as a gold sponsor of and participate in this fall’s 14th Annual Komen Knoxville Race for the Cure.

Since 1999, Premier Surgical Associates has entered a team in Knoxville’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. This year, Premier also is a gold sponsor of the signature fundraising event for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a nonprofit corporation credited as the world’s leading catalyst in the fight against breast cancer.

“Our commitment to the health and well-being of East Tennessee is not confined within the doors of our exam and operating rooms,” said Dr. Lytle Brown of Premier Surgical Associates and physician liaison on the Susan G. Komen Knoxville board of directors. “Our Premier family is dedicated to supporting the mission of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and its commitment to find a cure for breast cancer.

The Komen Knoxville Race for the Cure 2010 event is scheduled for October 30 in World’s Fair Park in downtown Knoxville. Early-bird registration is now open for individuals and teams at http://www.komenknoxville.org. From the Knoxville race, 75 percent of the net proceeds will fund local education, screening and treatment support, and the remaining 25 percent will fund national breast cancer research grants.

“We are proud of the participation by our physicians, staff and family members, and we encourage other area business and physician groups to join us,” Brown added.

The Knoxville Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is one of 125 Komen Affiliates in communities nationwide, in addition to international Affiliates in Germany, Italy and Puerto Rico.
