The Splash Jam will be at Ed Cothren Pool in Malcolm Martin Park at 1737 Reynolds St. on Friday, July 23, 2010 from 10 a.m. – noon.

Kids will participate in the water running race, traditional swim race, shallow water retrieval, underwater frogman, four-person swim relay, diving, cannonball, and diving retrieval events in a friendly competition. The recreation center that wins the most events will be declared the overall winners. Approximately 150 children will participate in the event.

Children who attend City recreation centers in the Summer Playground Program have taken field trips to the City’s Ed Cothren and Inskip Pools to learn water safety and proper swimming techniques. This “Splash Jam” is a celebration of what the children have learned this summer.
