Bank is Knoxville Habitat for Humanity’s Longest-standing Covenant Partner

Home Federal Bank 20th Habitat DedicationHome Federal Bank employees on Thursday gathered with Knoxville Habitat for Humanity representatives and new homeowners Prosper and Nadine Ndarurinze for a dedication ceremony celebrating the completion of the Ndarurinze’s new home on Belleaire Avenue in North Knoxville.

The dedication of this home marks Home Federal Bank’s 20th consecutive year as a covenant partner with Knoxville Habitat for Humanity. Covenant partners provide half of the cash needed to build a house, currently $30,000, plus significant manpower to aid in construction. Home Federal is Knoxville Habitat for Humanity’s longest-standing covenant partner.

“We’re proud to reach this 20th anniversary milestone with such a valuable organization,” said Home Federal Bank President Dale Keasling. “Habitat for Humanity is just another way that our bank can help our neighbors achieve dreams of homeownership, which has been the cornerstone of our business since 1924.”

Originally from Burundi, Africa, the Ndarurinzes came to the U.S. in 2007 seeking a safe home for daughters, Odreille, 5, and Grette, 9. Since moving to this country, the family has lived in an apartment but was eager to achieve the American dream. Both Prosper and Nadine have accumulated sweat equity hours for their new home in weekly budgeting classes and working on the home, and daughter Grette has even contributed hours by earning good grades in school.

“Covenant partners like Home Federal are the backbone of our success,” said Knoxville Habitat for Humanity President and CEO Kelle Schultz. “Home Federal’s longstanding position as a covenant partner is a model of community support and we are fortunate to have such a generous corporate citizen in our city.”

“Our employees enjoy working together to help provide homes for hardworking and grateful families like the Ndarurinzes,” said Keasling. “We look forward to partnering with Habitat to help even more worthy families realize their dreams of a home.”
