Program Honors Outstanding Neighbors and Supports Local Nonprofits; Nominations Being Accepted Now

Home Federal Bank announced today a new Hometown Heroes program to honor everyday citizens who do extraordinary things for others and for their community.

Little League coaches, senior citizen center workers, teachers, Scout leaders, nonprofit volunteers and others who work in their own way to make East Tennessee a great place to live are all potential honorees.

“We’re thrilled that Home Federal Bank’s Hometown Heroes will shine the spotlight on our neighbors who give so freely of their time and talents for the benefit of others,” said Home Federal Bank President Dale Keasling. “Helping these extraordinary citizens extend their good works through underwriting charitable donations in their honor is a privilege.”

Eight local residents will be honored in the first annual program and will receive public recognition as well as a $2,500 donation to a local nonprofit in their name courtesy of Home Federal. A top winner will have an additional $10,000 nonprofit donation made in their name.

The eight Hometown Heroes honorees will represent the various parts of our community where they live, including the city of Knoxville, North Knox County, South Knox County, East Knox County, West Knox County, Anderson County, Blount County and Sevier County. Honorees will be recognized at a Home Federal branch location in their community and will choose a local nonprofit for a $2,500 donation in their name. From the eight finalists, a top winner will receive an additional $10,000 for donation to a local nonprofit of their choice.

Nominations will be accepted through Friday, Oct. 29, online at http://www.facebook.com/homefederaltn and at all Home Federal Bank branch locations in Knox, Anderson, Blount and Sevier counties. Winners will be announced in November at various Home Federal Bank branches.

Media sponsors for Home Federal Bank Hometown Heroes are the Knoxville News Sentinel, WVLT-TV 8 and WIVK-FM 107.7.

“This program goes to the heart of what Home Federal Bank is all about,” Keasling said. “We believe that the people of East Tennessee are incredibly generous and willing to help others in need. This is our way of saying thank you for the many good deeds that are done out there in neighborhoods all across our region.”
