Tennessee’s New Sunnyside Trail Signs Installed in Sevierville
Way finding signs for Tennessee’s new Sunny Side Trail are now in place. This mapped driving trail covers 12 East Tennessee counties and nearly 300 points of interest from historic main streets and quaint restaurants to scenic Smoky Mountain back roads and picturesque spots for outdoor adventure. The Sunny Side Trail begins and ends in Sevierville, where several of the way finding signs now direct people to Sevierville’s 20 points of interest along the trail. The signs were installed in early November and were provided by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
The Sunny Side Trail was initially launched in Sevierville on May 13, 2010 in a special ceremony at The Robert Tino Gallery, which is one of the points of interest along the trail. Other Sevierville points of interest include New Salem Church, Forks of the Little Pigeon River Cemetery, the McMahan Indian Mound and more. Since the launch, welcome centers in East Tennessee have given away more than 10,000 Sunny Side self-guided driving tour brochures.
The Sunny Side Trail highlights much of the heritage, culture, food and attractions in East Tennessee and is one of sixteen regional trails that will launch over the next few months as part of a statewide tourist development initiative called “Discover Tennessee Trails and Byways.” An active social media campaign and print campaign featuring country band Rascal Flatts are being used to promote the trails program.
Those interested in taking the self-guided Sunny Side Trail driving tour may pick up a brochure detailing the points of interest at Sevierville Chamber of Commerce welcome centers and state welcome centers or online at SunnySideTrail.com.
