Students enrolling in the Fall semester at local Walters State Community College could win $250 toward the purchase of their course books by entering an essay contest sponsored by the Sevier County Democrats.
The contest is open to any resident of Sevier County enrolling in the 2011 Fall Semester at the Sevierville campus of Walters State Community College. The award recipient receives a $250 Book Scholarship they can use for purchase of their required course books.
Applicants must write a 400-500 word essay on this year’s essay topic “Which right granted to you by the Constitution of the United States is most important to you and why?”
Enter the contest my mailing essay, including name, address and phone number to: Sevier County Democrats – Scholarship Committee, PO Box 6005, Sevierville, TN 37864. Essay submission deadline is April 1, 2011.
Applicants need not be Democrats or reveal any political affiliation to enter. The organization will judge on essay alone, regardless of any political affiliation.
This is the third year the Sevier County Democrats have sponsored the essay contest.
The Sevier County Democrats meet at 7:00 pm the first Thursday of every month at the King Family Library. The public is welcome to attend.
