Matthew 6:25 – 27 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you eat or drink; or about your body, what you wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
Well, I must confess that I am quit experienced at worrying. I seem to have taken too many opportunities to worry over situations that have happened in my life. When I think about those situations, I realize that worrying did not change anything for the better. It only added more negative to the situation.
As an example of what worry does, think of yourself sitting on a stationary bike. You want to get across the street, so you start peddling the “stationary bike”. First you start out slow, then you go a little faster and a little faster. You start to sweat and your heart starts beating faster. You think that you are working so hard at this that you must be accomplishing something. You look ahead and realize that even with all that work and sweat you haven’t accomplished getting across the street. That’s how worry is. We work so hard at worrying and don’t accomplish a thing.
When we worry or become anxious we are saying “God I don’t trust you or have faith in the plans you have for my life.”
There is a song from several years ago that came to mind when I was thinking about worry, It’s called, Don’t Worry Be Happy. It was just a silly song that really has great meaning behind it. Just think of all the things we could be if we didn’t worry. A few words I can think of are Don’t worry be positive, healthy, encouraged, faithful, thankful. These are just a few examples. See how many other things you can come up with. I would love to hear from you what you could be if you didn’t worry.
God Bless, don’t worry be . . . . . . . . . .
