The 17th Annual Sevier County Student Art Show gets underway Friday, February 19, 2010 with an opening reception and awards ceremony for the teachers, artists and families from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Arrowmont. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. The student art will be on display in the Painting Studio at Arrowmont until Friday, March 5.
Each year the Sevier County Arts Council organizes the exhibit to showcase the talent of students from all grades, including those who are home schooled. All media is represented in this year’s show, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and glass.
This year’s entries were juried by Karen Green, the Gallery Coordinator at Arrowmont. “It is a privilege and honor to be a part of any art jury opportunity. When asked to jury for a student art show, delight and joy are what a juror receives. I am captivated, inspired, and impressed by the talents of these students and truly thank all the artists that participated,” said Green adding, “This again speaks to Arrowmont’s commitment as a leader in art education and support in promoting the arts to the surrounding area.”
The exhibit is open to the public for viewing free of charge Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM.
The 17th Annual Sevier County Student Art Show is sponsored in part by Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Citizens National Bank, Blalock & Sons, Gatlinburg Gateway Foundation, The Park Grill, Sevier County Executive’s Office, Two Coyotes Studio and Margit & Earl Worsham with additional funding provided by the Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival.
