The Women’s Wine Down will return this year as a preview party on Thursday, March 3, from 5:30-8:30
p.m. to kick-off the 17th annual Women Today. Presented by ORNL Federal Credit Union, the event will
be held at the Knoxville Convention Center.
Offering women a chance to relax and have some fun together, Women’s Wine Down is also a charity
event, benefiting the News Sentinel Empty Stocking Fund. The VIP shopping event will feature wine and
beer, food, shopping, music, prizes and fun including:
• Wine tasting presented by Ashe’s Wine and Spirits
• Beer tasting by Marble City Brewing Co.
• Hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants and The Culinary Institute at the University of Tennessee
• Music by Bliss Entertainment
Tickets are $40, and all proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the News Sentinel Empty Stocking Fund
(ESF). The mission of ESF is to provide food and toys to disadvantaged East Tennesseans during the
holidays. In 2010, ESF provided 3,600 families with food baskets and 3,000 children with books and toys.
“The year 2011 will mark the Empty Stocking Fund’s 99th anniversary, and we’re determined to make
it our most successful,” said Deanene Catani, director of marketing for the News Sentinel. “Our goal for
2011 is to increase the number of families who receive baskets by 100 through money raised at events
such as these. We hope women will enjoy an evening out at Women’s Wine Down with great friends – all
for a great cause.”
