We first met J Mark and his wife Cindy several years ago through a friend in the rodeo business that knew him well and recommended him highly as a bullfighter.  It wasn’t until he was sharing his testimony one Sunday that we heard his amazing story.

At the age of 44, at a pre-rodeo worship service in Kaycee, Wyoming, J Mark felt God’s leading to be a servant to the rodeo community.  J Mark is ordained Baptist minister and has served in various church ministry positions in Tennessee, Kentucky and Texas since 1976.  At the time of this calling to rodeo, he was pastoring a church in Kentucky.  After much prayer and soul searching about this new ministry opportunity in his life, J Mark realized that rodeo bullfighting was where God was leading him and that it was a perfect fit for his desire to serve others in the love of Christ.

J Mark received bullfighter training from Sankey Rodeo Schools based in Lebanon Missouri, receiving top student honors at the school.  He then went on to the professional bullfighting ranks working events for many different circuits including the IPRA, MRCA, SEBRA, SRA, ABT and the PBR.  At the International Finals Rodeo 35, after a week of intense bullfighter competition, J Mark became the International Professional Rodeo Association Showcase Champion.  He has also been selected to work the National Finals for the American BullRiders Tour for the past four years.  “It is almost beyond my comprehension that I get to do what I get to do.  I am blessed beyond what I deserve and I give God the credit for anything good that might come from my efforts.  Rodeo is an opportunity for me to serve people – both in and out of the arena, to share my faith and to share the incredible hope and joy that I have found in a personal relationship with Jesus.  I am excited about being a part of the Smoky Mountain Youth Rodeo Association and look forward to spending time with young people, their families and all those in the stands that I will have the opportunity to meet.”

Check out J Mark’s website – www.psychoservant.com or find him on facebook – J Mark Wilson   We are very blessed and excited to have him joining the Smoky Mountain Youth Rodeo organization and look forward to a great season at the Sevier County Fairgrounds.  So, come on out and meet J Mark, see the contestants give their all to the great American sport of Rodeo, and know that there is far more to this thing we call Rodeo than just the boots, spurs and a hat!
