Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union Gives Kids a Chance to Grill at Bloomin’ BBQ & Bluegrass
Sevierville (TN) – The Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union and Sevierville Chamber of Commerce are once again giving young cooks a chance to compete for trophies and prizes during this year’s Bloomin’ BBQ & Bluegrass event May 20 & 21, 2011.
The Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union Kids’ Burger Cook Off invites children ages 6-16 to form cook teams of 1-5 children and compete in an evening cook off on Friday May 20, 2011, on the front lawn of the Sevier County Courthouse. Teams must register by May 13, 2011 in order to compete. Entries are limited to the first 18 teams and a separate application must be filled out for each child on each team. The registration fee is $25 per team and will include an EZ Grill, charcoal, hamburger meat and buns to cook for the competition. Each team should bring their own cooking utensils (including tongs, aluminum foil, etc) and any spices, mix-ins or garnishes they may wish to use in cooking the burgers. An adult must accompany each cook team.
The grills will be lit at 6:30pm and a grilling safety session will be conducted by the Sevierville Fire Department. After the 7:30pm turn in time, the burgers will be judged by Kansas City Barbeque Society certified judges and awards for the Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union Kids’ Que will be presented at 8:30pm. First prize in the Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union Kids’ Burger Cook Off is $50, second prize is $25 and each child will receive a participation award.
