Entertainment legend honored by the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions annual Big E Awards.
PIGEON FORGE, Tenn.—Dolly Parton added yet another award to her trophy case in November—her first-ever Heartbeat Award for Sha-Kon-O-Hey! Land of Blue Smoke, a $1.3 million production which opened at her Dollywood theme park on May 9, 2009.
Dollywood has won 15 Big E Awards in the past four years, more than any other theme park in the world.
The Heartbeat Award was presented on Nov. 18 during the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions (IAAPA) Expo’s annual Big E Entertainment Awards ceremony in Las Vegas. Dollywood Entertainment Director Paul T. Couch accepted the award, on behalf of Parton and Dollywood. The Big E Awards recognize the best theme park shows in the world.

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn.—Dollywood theme park claimed its fourth consecutive international Heartbeat Award along with three additional trophies at this year’s International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Expo’s Big E entertainment awards ceremony in Las Vegas on Nov. 18.
The latest awards bring Dollywood’s total to 15 in the past four years, more than any other theme park in the world.
Sha-Kon-O-Hey! Land of Blue Smoke won the prestigious Heartbeat Award. The $1.3 million production premiered May 9, 2009, featuring eight songs written by Dolly Parton and tells the story of the last family leaving the area that would become Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Sha-Kon-O-Hey! returns May 2010 for Dollywood’s 25th anniversary season.
Dollywood’s previous Heartbeat Award winners are Dreamland Drive-In (2008 & 2006) and The Great American Country Show (2007).

Dollywood invites everyone who works or lives in Sevier County admission for only $5 per person. Proceeds will be donated to the Sevier County Food Ministries. This special offer is going on November 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 19, 2009. All you have to do to take advantage of this great offer is:
Present your state or federal issued photo I.D. and verification of Sevier County residence (such as an electric bill, water bill, personal check, or payroll stub) at any Dollywood ticket booth any one day. Spouse must present a state or federal issued photo I.D. with same last name or provide proof of marriage. Children under age 16 and living at home will be allowed admission with their parents only. Otherwise proof of Sevier County residence is required.
Anyone 16 years or older must present a state or federal issued photo I.D. and verification of Sevier County residence or employment.
I.D. will be recorded for proof of visit.
Parking fees, food and merchandise are not free.

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn.—Dollywood unwraps its 20th anniversary holiday season on Nov. 7 with the opening of its award-winning festival Smoky Mountain Christmas presented by Humana, which continues through Jan. 2, 2010.
Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas festival recently won its second consecutive Golden Ticket Award for Best Christmas Event. The awards are presented annually to the “best of the best” in the amusement industry by Amusement Today magazine from an international poll.
“I just love spending the holidays with family and friends, so I hope my Smoky Mountain Christmas festival brings families closer together this time of year.” Dolly Parton said. “My wish is for everyone to be wrapped in warm holiday memories, just like the ones of my family that I cherish and hold so dear.”

Dolly will give a keynote address to the 2010 Rotary International Convention in Montreal, Canada, the service club announced here Tuesday. Dolly’s speech will come as part of the event’s June 23 morning plenary session, which will also feature an address from the CEO of Boy Scouts of America. She will discuss the importance of early childhood reading and how the Dollywood Foundation’s collaboration with Rotary International has impacted her literacy program, the Imagination Library. The Library, which sends one age-appropriate, expert-selected book each month to any child birth to age 5 in more than 1,100 participating communities in the U.S., Canada and Great Britain, was selected as a Rotary International project earlier this year, with the organization officially encouraging all of its more than 10,000 Clubs in those three countries to support the program in their local communities. A new Kenny & Dolly duet will soon head to radio and be available on two upcoming Kenny Rogers CDs. Time Life Records has announced that the collaboration, “Tell Me That You Love Me,” will be sent to radio as a single and be promoted with “national TV appearances.” The song will appear on the label’s CD Kenny Rogers: The Greatest Duets, which also includes “Islands In The Stream” and “Real Love” and hits stores on Oct. 27. In addition, the album will be included in a boxed set coming out the same day titled Kenny Rogers: The First 50 Years. That collection adds four more songs to the “Duets” disc plus features two additional discs of Rogers’ greatest hits (“Story Songs” and “Love Songs”) with two additional new recordings: the solo tracks “Goodbye” on the “Story Songs” disc and “Natural Thing To Do” on the “Love Songs” disc. Dolly’s first million-selling song is about to hit the airwaves again as a single from her upcoming concert DVD/CD, Dolly: Live From London, her Los Angeles-based publicist announced in a press release issued Tuesday. “Here You Come Again” will be sent to radio and a music video sent to television as the first single from the project. Also, the release revealed that the DVD and CD will be combined into one two-disc collection with a suggested retail price of $14.99 rather than being sold separately and that it will be released on Nov. 10. “This is the first DVD that shows the globally renowned superstar in all of her splendor live,” the release boasts. “13 Hi-Def cameras swirl around, creating a captivating concert experience for the small screen.
