KODAK, Tenn. – The Tennessee Smokies, Class AA minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announce this afternoon the return of RHP Marco Carrillo to the team from Triple-A Iowa. He will be available for this evening’s game against the Montgomery Biscuits. There are no corresponding moves at this time. The Smokies roster now sits at 24 active players. This is Carrillo’s second stint with the Smokies this year.
In eight relief appearances and one spot start between April 9 and May 11, he went 3-0 with a 5.00 ERA. He then pitched for High-A Daytona, where he went 2-0 with a 1.67 ERA, and continued onto Iowa starting July 1, where he was 0-1 with a 2.45 ERA in four appearances. The 23 year-old was signed by Chicago as a non-drafted free agent in 2005.
