KODAK, Tenn. – The Tennessee Smokies, Class AA minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announce this afternoon the return of INF Jonathon Mota to the team from the Low-A Peoria Chiefs. He will be available for this evening’s series opener against the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx. There are no corresponding moves at this time. The Smokies roster now sits at 24 active players. Mota joins the Smokies for the second time in his career, first time in 2010. He spent the entire 2009 season in Tennessee where he hit .238 (76-for-320) with two home runs and 22 RBIs. In 44 games for Peoria this year, he hit .281 (45-for-160), with two home runs and 24 RBIs. The Valencia, Venezuela native was signed by Chicago as a non-drafted free agent in 2003.
