2018 Fall Rod Run: School and Traffic Information

The Rod Run is coming to Pigeon Forge and the surrounding area! With the increase in traffic, here is some school and traffic information to be aware of:

    • Schools in Sevier County will close at 2:00pm on Friday September 7th and Friday September 14th.
  • From the Pigeon Forge Police Department:
The Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup is scheduled for September 07 through September 08, 2018. This weekend, traffic will be heavy and congested. It is not a good time to be in a hurry. You can expect some problems getting around and through the City of Pigeon Forge.
    Traffic Information:
Wears Valley Road traveling from Townsend to Pigeon Forge will be heavy around 1:00 PM and comes to a standstill around 6:00 PM on both Friday and Saturday.
The Parkway in Pigeon Forge is passable in the left lane until about 6:00 PM. It will then come to a stand-still in which average speed is 3-4 MPH with periods of not moving. At approximately 9:00 PM, traffic is extremely heavy and barely moves on primary and secondary roads. If you are traveling from Gatlinburg to Pigeon Forge consider alternate routes as US 441 northbound (The Spur) is heavily congested. We have had reports of it taking hours to travel the five miles. Expect delays coming off Dollywood Lane onto the Parkway from 4:00 PM until midnight. This includes Veterans Blvd. Pedestrian traffic will be heavy and will need extra attention. It is illegal to block intersections and officers will write citations when available for blocking intersections.
Please be safe. Use caution and patience for this weekend. We have provided a link to frequently asked questions: http://cityofpigeonforge.com/support-services.aspx
