Alcatraz East Crime Museum celebrates teachers by offering them free admission for June 2022. In addition to all teachers getting in for free, they can receive a 50% discount for up to four guests with them. They are also offering Teacher Demo Days on June 11-12, 2022, where teachers will receive handouts on demonstrations from CSI / forensics. Teachers will need to fill out the online form ahead of time to receive the free admission.

“Summer break is here, and it’s a great time for teachers to visit us,” says Summer Blalock, group sales manager for Alcatraz East. “We look forward to seeing many of them stop by and take part in the fun things we have going on all month.”

Teachers will be the special guests of the month. Free admission is also available to all education support staff. Teachers and support staff will need to show valid school identification or a paystub upon entry. Teachers can receive handouts and special demonstrations regarding fingerprinting, prison tattoos, and the Top Detective Challenge during the Teacher Demo Days. There are over 100 interactive exhibits school groups can explore to learn more about crime, crime prevention, the justice system, and more. This opportunity gives educators a chance to continue summer learning experiences and be able to share the information with their students.

In addition, Alcatraz East Crime Museum honors Nicole Brown Simpson by adding some of her items to their courtroom exhibit. June 12, 2022, marks the 28th anniversary of the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and acquaintance Ron Goldman outside her home. Nicole’s ex-husband O.J. Simpson was tried for the murders in a publicly televised trial that captivated the nation and remains one of the most infamous trials in American history.

There was a recorded history of domestic violence in the Simpson’s marriage, one of the many reasons Nicole divorced O.J. in 1992. In October 1995, O.J. Simpson was acquitted of the murders in the criminal trial but was later found liable for wrongful death in a civil trial. This display will include some of Nicole’s everyday china. Her family remembers her love of cooking and entertaining, often using these dishes.

“Guests can see the new additions to this case and view the famous Bronco from the chase that so many people watched on television,” added Blalock. “This is going to be a great summer at Alcatraz East!”

To get the free admission, teachers need to fill out the online form ahead of time: https://www.alcatrazeast.com/teacher-appreciation/.
