Science lovers of all ages will not want to miss National STEM Day at WonderWorks Pigeon Forge. On November 8, 2023, WonderWorks is offering STEM/STEAM-focused demonstrations for all guests between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m. They are also preparing to unveil an updated version of their “I Think, Therefore I STEM” exhibit, putting marine biology careers in the spotlight.
“Marine biology is a fascinating field that uses so many different STEM concepts across every specialty. Because of this, we are very excited to feature this career in our I Think, Therefore I STEM exhibit! Young scientists are sure to be inspired by all this display will teach them,” says Joe Baumgartner, general manager at WonderWorks Pigeon Forge.
WonderWorks Pigeon Forge has partnered with SeaWorld and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to help guests dive deep into the career of a marine biologist. The new iteration of their “I Think, Therefore I STEM” exhibit will offer information about the vast field, including how to enter it, specific specialty areas, their various responsibilities and more. Guests will also be able to take part in different interactive elements to enhance the experience.
To further celebrate all things STEM, guests can visit WonderWorks on November 8, 2023, National STEM Day, to experience a variety of science-themed demonstrations happening from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. The interactive experiments will focus on concepts such as temperature, insulation, pressure, density, origami, and more. Come witness scientific feats that defy gravity and attempt the impossible! The Blubber Glove experiment is a WonderWorks favorite, demonstrating how marine mammals stay warm in cold water temperatures. Guests can channel their inner marine biologist to examine and experience insulation in action at this interactive lab.
“Empowering young minds to pursue STEM careers such as marine biology is essential for our world’s future. By fostering a love for marine science in the younger generations, we are cultivating the stewards our oceans and marine life need. Every budding marine biologist represents a potential solution to our seas’ challenges, from climate change to conservation. Their curiosity, dedication, and passion hold the key to safeguarding the deep and the incredible creatures that call it home,” explains Dr. Joseph Gaspard, vice president of Zoological Operations at SeaWorld Orlando.
WonderWorks Pigeon Forge is an ideal place for science lovers of all ages. They offer STEM/STEAM activities throughout the year, including Lobby Learning events, teacher appreciation days, student field trips, student achievement awards, an annual youth art contest, and more.
With over 100 interactive exhibits, guests can learn, explore, and make memories at WonderWorks. The exhibits are all based on concepts related to science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM), giving visitors hands-on, fun activities that allow them to make lasting memories and learn simultaneously.
