WonderWorks Pigeon Forge is honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October 2024. All month long, they will be hosting a variety of fundraising opportunities and engaging community activities to raise money for the American Breast Cancer Support Association, a local charity they have teamed up with. Guests can visit WonderWorks to have fun, make memories, and leave knowing they have contributed to a good cause.

“We’re very excited to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month at the upside-down house this year! Supporting our community is a big part of the WonderWorks mission, so our team is already hard at work to make this a successful fundraiser,” said Joe Baumgartner, general manager at WonderWorks Pigeon Forge.

WonderWorks Pigeon Forge will offer several new programs and opportunities for the community to get involved, including fun, fundraising activities, limited merchandise, and more. Guests are encouraged to get in on the action by joining in on the festive activities:

  • Climb for a Cure. From October 1-6, 2024, those taking on the indoor ropes course challenge can choose to donate up to $5 to the American Breast Cancer Support Association, which WonderWorks will match at the end of the week. Those who donate will receive a breast cancer ribbon showing their support and a WonderWorks sticker to celebrate.
  • HOPE Wall. From October 7 to 13, 2024, guests are invited to participate in a community art project hosted at WonderWorks Pigeon Forge. Guests can color the HOPE Wall, share their breast cancer stories, and share pictures using #wonderfulhope to spread awareness on social media.
  • Card Making. From October 14-20, 2024, a pop-up card-making activity will be set up in the lobby. Guests can use their creative skills to make a special card for someone who has been touched by breast cancer.
  • Merchandise Picks. A unique “Think Pink” breast cancer t-shirt will be available for purchase in the WonderWorks gift shop, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the attraction’s partnering organization.

“One in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, so we’re joining the fight here at WonderWorks,” said Melanie Benson, sales manager at WonderWorks Pigeon Forge. “We’ve got tons of exciting activities and fundraising opportunities lined up for October! I’m proud to be a part of it!”

In partnership with the American Breast Cancer Support Association, WonderWorks Pigeon Forge will donate all funds raised at the end of the month to help support their mission. The American Breast Cancer Support Association is a popular organization based in Knoxville, Tenn. that provides free mammograms for those without health insurance and low incomes. It also donates recliners to those going through chemotherapy.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, roughly 240,000 women get breast cancer in the U.S. each year. It is estimated that around 1 in every 100 breast cancers diagnoses is within a man. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is the time to familiarize yourself with the symptoms of the disease. Those experiencing symptoms or concerns should speak with their doctor to see if a mammogram is warranted.

Looking ahead, WonderWorks Pigeon Forge will celebrate National STEM/STEAM Day on November 8, 2024. It’s a great day for science fans to visit and learn something new, as guests can participate in various interactive demonstrations and science experiments throughout the facility’s exhibits. WonderWorks is also continuing their partnership with Merriam-Webster Dictionary to unveil an updated version of their Word Up exhibit. The refreshed exhibit will include words that have been recently added to the dictionary, a new interactive word scramble, and interesting details exploring how words are formed.

WonderWorks offers special deals and events for locals throughout the year. Those who don’t want to miss out can sign up for text alerts, which will ensure they get information about upcoming discounts and special offerings sent right to their phone. To be the first to hear about all the exciting happenings in the upside-down house, East Tennessee residents can text “wonderworks” to 73028 or follow their Facebook page.

Locals and visitors alike can also take advantage of birthday party packages, student group and field trip options, team-building experiences, homeschool days, youth art contests, sensory days, and more. With over 42,000 square feet of “edutainment,” WonderWorks is an indoor amusement park for the mind. There is a wealth of fun and engaging activities for guests of all ages to explore. The over 100 hands-on exhibits include physical challenges, NASA replicas, weather simulators, a light and sound zone, and the far-out art gallery. WonderWorks Pigeon Forge is open daily from 10 am to 9 pm this fall, with the last ticket sold one hour before closing. For more information, visit https://www.wonderworksonline.com/pigeon-forge/.
