Senior Day @ Dixie Stampede On Tuesday September 22nd 2015

The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and include a Health and Wellness Fair, along with an opportunity for guests to experience Dixie Stampede’s new-look show unveiled earlier this year plus a very special appearance by the world-famous free-flying Bald Eagle Challenger!

The Health and Wellness Fair (Senior Day), will kick off in the morning and feature a variety of complimentary health screenings, information for seniors and their families, as well as drawings for free door prizes throughout the day. The screenings will include hearing evaluations, grip and strength tests, and Oxygen Saturation Testing. Attendees will also have access to representatives to discuss wills and estate planning, advance directives, prescription interactions and related issues, in-home care for seniors, rehabilitation services, long-term care, personal banking and other daily life matters.

This year’s event will feature a special appearance by Challenger, the first non-releasable Bald Eagle in U.S. history trained to free-fly into major sports stadiums, arenas. He is cared for by the American Eagle Foundation, was named in honor of the fallen space shuttle crew, Challenger and acts as an ambassador for his species. For more than twenty years, Challenger has been making educational appearances throughout the U.S. to raise awareness about protecting eagles, natural resources, and the environment. He has appeared at the MLB World Series, BCS National Championship, as well as the White House, Pentagon and U.S. Capitol Building.

Also new this year will be several 15-minute sessions that will include informative presentations from representatives of CVS Pharmacy, the Pigeon Forge Police Department and the Tennova Health and Fitness Center.

Other community partners scheduled to attend include: American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Beltone, Keep Sevier Beautiful, Praise 96.3, and others.

“This has become a special event for us and we love showing our local seniors just how much their community cares for them and their health,” says Dixie Stampede’s Woody Peek. “We’ve had an exciting year and we’re excited to share our completely revamped and new-look show to this extraordinary group.”

Earlier this year, Dixie Stampede unveiled the upgrades and changes, all part of a $2.5 million renovation investment and upgrade to the dinner attraction’s show and arena. The highlights of the renovation include all-new lighting, state-of-the-art special effects and an expansive wall of 12.5 million LED bulbs. The video wall backdrop will transport guests from one scene to another, thanks to seamless and innovative technology. 

Following the Health and Wellness Fair, seniors and their families will have the opportunity to enjoy Dixie Stampede’s Dixie Belle Saloon Show featuring Mountain Ruckus, along with the dinner attraction’s main show and four-course feast at a reduced ticket price.
