MEDIC Regional Blood Center Critical Need Continues!

MEDIC Regional Blood Center continues to have a critical need for:

  • O Positive,
  • O Negative, and
  • A Positive blood types.

The need is ongoing and nationwide. Anyone eligible to donate is encouraged to stop by one of MEDIC’s four centers or any blood mobile drive. The schedule can be found at Anyone donating this week will be entered to win a Fall Sports Package for the University of Tennessee. The package will include a $250 gift card for UT Sports as well as other football-themed goodies.

In light of recent, tragic, events, MEDIC Regional Blood Center would like to remind the community of some important information:

  • The blood used for tragic events and trauma incidents comes from what is currently on the shelf at MEDIC Regional Blood Center which at this point, is a critically low inventory.
  • It takes three days for donated blood to be tested, processed and ready for distribution to local hospitals.
  • MEDIC Regional Blood Center is the provider for blood and blood-related products for 25 hospitals in 22 counties including Appalachian Regional Hospital in Middlesboro.
  • Blood donated in our service area stays in our service.
